Info + Accessibility Request Form

Please use this form to request ADA accommodations for your upcoming show at La Rosa. We will reach out to you to confirm.

Accessibility Guide for Guests

Before You Arrive

We will always provide accommodations to guests who need them. However, it is incredibly helpful if you reach out before attending. The floor plan at La Rosa is dynamic, and advance notice gives us the opportunity to build the ADA section to the appropriate size.

To do so, please fill out our ADA request form at least 48 hours before the show: https://larosatucson.org/adarequest/

If you have questions about our facility, please contact ops@larosatucson.com or call 520-222-9833.

Getting Here

If you are getting a ride to La Rosa, there is a drop-off area by the main entrance.

If you are parking, enter the lot through the south entrance and proceed to the pink parking tent. Let the attendant know you have a placard and require an ADA space. There are two spaces immediately outside the venue. Once those are full, our staff can still accommodate you with onsite parking as long as spaces are available in our lot.

The curb ramp is directly south of the ADA spaces.

Accessible Entry

After you have parked, proceed to our staff at the bag check area outside the venue. La Rosa was built in 1939, decades before ADA regulations were put into place, so the accessible ramp is not by the main entrance and is instead located toward the center of the complex, near the office for the Benedictine Apartments. Let bag check know you are attending a show. A staff member will escort you to the ramp and then inside the venue, where they will check your bag and give you a wristband for entry.

There is no ramped entry at the front doors, as the tiled front stairs are unsafe for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

Inside the Venue

The ADA section is generally on the right side of the stage, toward the front. If you made a request in advance, staff will have a space for you and a list of names to ensure you get your seat. You are allowed one companion (+1) in the ADA section. To keep sightlines clear for other patrons, we ask that everyone in the ADA section remain seated. If you or your companion need to stand or want to dance, please step out of the section and return when you’re ready.

If you did not make arrangements in advance, we will do our best to find you a seat in the section. We also reserve two pews near the section for anyone who arrives without prior arrangements.

A staff member is generally stationed at the ADA section to keep the space clear.

La Rosa has one ADA stall, located in the unisex bathrooms in the blue hallway. Caregivers are welcome to assist you in the stall, please let the attendant know if one is present. The atrium and patio doors are wide enough for wheelchair passage.

Sensory Sensitivities

Please be advised that shows at La Rosa generally include some flashing lights and strobes. We also use hazers and a high-powered projector. Because these elements are programmed in advance, we cannot adjust them for individual patrons.

If you need earplugs, we are happy to provide them. If you have a child with sound sensitivity, we have protective earphones available to loan. Venue services and security staff can provide these items. We do not have assistive listening devices.

The outdoor patio is generally a quieter, less stimulating area and is a great place for fresh air or a timeout. Occasionally it gets crowded and loud. If you need a quiet moment and cannot find one, please alert a staff member and we will help to the best of our ability.

Service Animals

Only service animals are allowed in La Rosa.

Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Under the ADA, state and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go. A service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or the devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. Emotional support animals do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

Mobility Devices

Please alert staff if you need to store your mobility devices, and they will make sure the devices are kept somewhere safe that you can access. Please do not leave these devices in walkways or other areas that could impede the flow of traffic.
